Japanese Maple (Red)
Red Japanese Maple is one of the most beautiful and graceful looking ornamental trees in the landscape!
In mid spring its leaves emerge in a rich shade of red and persist into summer.
Each tree is a little different in how long it holds its red color in summer; some will transition to mostly dark green, while others may stay red all year. Either way, they turn back to a brilliant red in the fall.
These slow to moderate growers can reach 15-25 feet tall eventually, and spread up to 15- 20 feet wide.
The color will be best in full sun, but they will grow fine in part shade too.
Hardy in zones 5-8
