Bald Cypress
Bald Cypress is a care free tree. The oldest known one, in North Carolina, is over 1600 years old!
Soft, fern-like branches sway in the breeze, giving this tree a graceful look. Once the weather cools, the needles turn a coppery brown before the tree goes “bald” in the winter.
Best known for growing in swampy areas, it is also adaptable to dry conditions and a wide variety of soil types, including clay.
Grows 2.5 inches a year to a height of 50-75 feet. It naturally forms a nice slender pyramidal shape, spreading 20-30 feet.
