Loropetalum ‘Ruby’
Loropetalum ‘Ruby’ puts on a display of deep pink fringe-like flowers.
This is a dwarf form of this species, typically growing 3-6 feet tall and wide, though it can easily be maintained at almost any height.
Its flower display begins with a few sporadic blooms in autumn, then appearing again in much greater density late winter into early spring.
The rich purple foliage changes to a deep green as it ages, but some light pruning or shaping, forces fresh new growth changing it purple again.
Prefers moist, but well draining soil, and will grow in full or partial sun, though foliage color is best in full sun.
Ruby is hardy in zones 7-9.
