Lewisia ‘Sunset Strain’

Lewisia ‘Sunset Strain’
These native succulents are gaining in popularity, but they are still largely unknown to most gardeners.

The original discovery of this species goes back to the Lewis & Clark Expedition, which is where its name is derived.

Each Lewisia plant from Sunset Strain can be one of many beautiful  colors ranging from yellow, orange, pink, or white and salmon.

Stems about 6 to 10 inches high stand above a rosette of fleshy, thick evergreen leaves that reaches 8 to 12 inches wide.

It is ideal for rock gardens as it needs very good drainage to thrive.

Here in the south it must be planted in partial shade, particularly afternoon shade or dappled sun.

Hardy in zones 5-8.
