Bearded Iris ‘ Lent A Williamson’
This Iris is a very old variety, first being introduced back in 1918, and is noted for its vigor and toughness even in less than ideal conditions. The flowers are borne on 30-42 inch stems and feature lavender standards with velvet/purple falls and a yellow beard, blooming in mid to late spring. Over time it spreads out to make a large clump of its sword-like foliage 1-3 feet wide. It prefers full sun or part shade. When planting, don’t cover the Iris bulb (rhizome). Leave the top of it exposed as it would grow naturally. Hardy in zones 3-10.
