Niobe produces richly colored flowers which emerge as a true red, then fade to a light maroon.
It is also long flowering, beginning in May with a flush of blooms followed with sporadic flowering all summer.
It grows up to 8-10 feet tall. Prefers full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Like all clematis, it likes cool roots, so keep it happy my adding a layer of mulch.
It belongs to pruning group 2, which means you only need to trim out dead branches.
